Security forces have arrested Dr Lashari, a key commander of the banned Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), during an intelligence-based operation in Karachi, according to security sources.
Sources said the operation was carried out on the basis of confidential intelligence regarding the presence of the suspected terrorist operative in the city.
According to available information, Dr Lashari was previously associated with the banned Baloch Republican Army (BRA) before later joining the banned BLF, which authorities describe as part of Fitna al-Hindustan’s network operating in Balochistan.
Sources said Dr Lashari gradually assumed an important role within the organization and remained active for years while allegedly maintaining links with the group’s operational structure.
The suspect reportedly spent an extended period in Dubai before recently returning to Pakistan. Sources said law enforcement agencies tracked his movements after receiving intelligence about his arrival in Karachi.
Following surveillance and intelligence gathering, authorities launched an operation that resulted in his arrest without any reported resistance.
Officials believe the arrest could provide valuable insights into the activities, facilitators, financing channels, and operational networks of the banned outfit.
The detention comes amid ongoing counterterrorism efforts targeting terrorist organizations and separatist groups operating in Balochistan and other parts of the country. Security agencies have intensified intelligence-based operations in recent months, leading to the arrest or elimination of several suspected terrorist operatives and facilitators.
Authorities have not yet disclosed further details regarding the investigation, and additional information is expected to emerge as interrogations continue.
