A potentially catastrophic incident was successfully prevented in Hangu after security personnel and bomb disposal experts safely defused a 16-kilogram improvised explosive device (IED) planted near a major highway close to Saddar Police Station.

According to security sources, authorities received intelligence regarding the presence of explosive material in the area, prompting an immediate response from local police and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS). Upon arrival, security teams swiftly cordoned off the surrounding area and suspended traffic on the main highway to ensure civilian safety and prevent any possible casualties.

Following extensive precautionary measures, bomb disposal experts conducted a controlled operation and successfully neutralized the explosive device without incident. Officials confirmed that the timely intervention averted what could have resulted in a major tragedy, particularly given the device’s location near a busy roadway frequently used by commuters and commercial transport.

Security officials praised the professionalism, coordination, and rapid response demonstrated by law enforcement and bomb disposal personnel during the operation. Authorities further stated that investigations are underway to determine those responsible for planting the explosive device and to assess whether the incident is linked to broader militant activity in the region.
