Pakistan Debunks Afghan Taliban Border Claims, Reaffirms Full Control After Sabotage Attempt in Kurram

The Government of Pakistan has strongly rejected recent claims circulated in Afghan media suggesting that Afghan forces have breached the Pakistan-Afghanistan border near Kurram, in Paktia province. These claims, widely shared on social media and by propaganda networks, are false and misleading, misrepresenting a limited sabotage attempt as a large-scale territorial incursion.

Verified operational reports confirm that a 20-meter section of the border fence in the dense forested area opposite Kurram was tampered with by individuals wearing civilian clothing. These perpetrators were identified as elements of Fitna Al Khawarij (FAK) and affiliated Afghan Taliban operatives, not Afghan government forces. The act was a small-scale, covert attempt at sabotage, carried out under the cover of darkness, and did not constitute any territorial gain or breach of Pakistani sovereignty.

Upon receiving timely intelligence, Pakistani security forces responded immediately to the incident, reaching the site without delay and taking full control of the situation. The damaged portion of the fence has since been completely repaired, ensuring that the border barrier remains intact, operational, and fully secure. The perpetrators were decisively dealt with, including the use of heavy artillery, resulting in significant losses to hostile elements.

This incident underscores the coordinated hostile intent between FAK and the Afghan Taliban, as both groups continue to pursue aligned objectives against Pakistan. Under Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, Pakistan’s security forces have inflicted substantial losses on these extremist groups. Operational data highlights that 707 militants have been killed, while 938 others have been injured during the course of the operation. Furthermore, Pakistani forces have destroyed 255 Afghan Forces posts and captured 44 more, along with 237 tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery guns, significantly degrading the combat capability of hostile forces. 81 terrorist and support infrastructure locations across Afghanistan have also been effectively targeted, demonstrating the precision and scale of Pakistan’s operational response.

Claims propagated by Afghan media that the border fence was removed or that Afghan forces gained ground in the Kurram-Paktia sector are entirely false and misleading. The sabotage attempt represents a desperate, failed act, now being misrepresented as a strategic success. Pakistan’s security forces remain fully alert and vigilant along the border, ensuring rapid response, effective control, and continued protection of national security.

The Government of Pakistan reiterates its commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. While Pakistan pursues peace and stability along its borders, it will continue to take decisive action against non-state actors, extremist elements, and coordinated hostile attempts, ensuring that national security remains uncompromised.
