The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has killed a highly wanted militant commander during an intelligence-based operation in the Piniala area of Dera Ismail Khan, police officials confirmed.

The militant, identified as Commander Ahmad Dotani alias Abu Bakar Kochi, was neutralized in Wanda Budh village following a raid conducted on a tip-off regarding his presence.

According to police, the slain commander belonged to the Dotani tribe of Piniala Panj Tara and was wanted in multiple serious cases of terrorism. He was directly involved in the February 11, 2026 attack on police personnel, in which Station House Officer Faheem Mumtaz and six other officers were martyred, while DSP Paharpur Hafiz Muhammad Adnan and his driver sustained injuries.

CTD officials stated that the operation led to an exchange of fire, during which the militant commander was killed, while his accomplices managed to flee the scene. A search operation has been launched in the surrounding area to apprehend the remaining suspects.

Authorities further revealed that the militant had links with the former “Kachi group” and had long been on the radar of law enforcement agencies. His identity was also confirmed through images that surfaced on social media following the February attack, showing his involvement.

Officials described the operation as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle militant networks in the region and bring those responsible for attacks on security forces to justice.
