In a significant success for Pakistan’s security forces, a female suicide bomber affiliated with the proscribed terrorist organization Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) was apprehended in Balochistan, preventing potential loss of innocent lives. The operation underscores the commitment of Pakistan’s security agencies to protect citizens and maintain law and order in the province.
Speaking at a press conference, Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti praised the security forces for their decisive action. “The successful operation has saved numerous innocent lives,” he stated. “The personnel involved are worthy of our highest commendation. The people of Balochistan, who are proud and honorable, do not accept terrorism. They are being misled into futile conflicts, and the cooperation of citizens providing timely intelligence has been invaluable.”
The Chief Minister emphasized that terrorist groups have exploited Baloch women for extremist agendas. “These elements, including Bashir Zeb and the BLA, have undermined the dignity of women under the guise of Baloch identity. Security forces have ensured that women’s safety and respect are a top priority. Matters concerning women will be handled exclusively by the Women’s Police, with full regard for their protection and honor,” he said.
Authorities also highlighted the role of Afghanistan as a safe haven for terrorists targeting Pakistan. “Intelligence from Afghanistan has recently improved, revealing that over 1,000 terrorists have received training to carry out attacks against Pakistan. The state is fully capable of enforcing its authority, and all foreign nationals will be repatriated with dignity,” the Chief Minister added.
In a statement obtained after her arrest, the female operative identified herself as Laiba from Khuzdar district. She revealed that her indoctrination and preparation for a suicide mission were directed by Commander Ibrahim. She urged other women not to become part of any extremist activities.
The apprehension of Laiba highlights the ongoing vigilance and effectiveness of Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts in Balochistan, reflecting the government’s determination to safeguard its citizens and uphold the rule of law.
