Pakistan’s security forces successfully intercepted and neutralized multiple drone threats in separate incidents across Rawalpindi and Quetta, officials confirmed.
In Rawalpindi, a couple of rudimentary drones were detected in the vicinity of sensitive military installations. Using advanced electronic warfare (EW) measures, security forces immediately jammed the drones’ signals, forcing them to the ground. No casualties or structural damage were reported, and airspace had been temporarily closed as a precautionary measure before being reopened later in the day.
Authorities confirmed the drones were likely off-the-shelf models modified for surveillance and potentially carrying explosives, consistent with recent tactics observed among Afghan Taliban-backed Fitna al-Khwarij (FAK) operatives. The swift interception highlights Pakistan’s growing operational readiness and vigilance in protecting critical infrastructure.
Meanwhile, in Quetta, local sources reported a drone attack in the Sra Ghargai Kalay area. The unmanned device reportedly crashed into a residential property, causing severe damage to the house but miraculously resulting in no casualties. Investigations suggest the drone may have been deployed by extremist groups attempting to target civilian areas, reflecting the expanding and adaptive threat posed by transnational terrorist networks operating along Pakistan’s borders.
Security officials emphasized that both incidents underscore the importance of constant vigilance, intelligence coordination, and rapid response capabilities. “Our security forces are fully equipped and trained to counter evolving threats, including unmanned aerial devices,” an official said. “Civilians are advised to report any suspicious aerial activity to local authorities immediately.”
These events follow a broader trend of attempted drone incursions in Pakistan, linked to ongoing cross-border militancy. The combined efforts of military, law enforcement, and electronic countermeasures continue to safeguard communities, sensitive installations, and strategic locations, demonstrating Pakistan’s proactive posture against modern asymmetric threats.
