Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism campaign Operation Ghazab Lil-Haqq reflects Islamabad’s increasingly firm approach toward cross-border militancy threatening the country’s western frontier, according to security officials.
The operation comes amid continued concerns in Pakistan about militant groups operating from across the border and launching attacks inside the country, particularly elements linked to Fitna al-Khwarij (FAK).
Security officials say the campaign is aimed at dismantling militant infrastructure used to facilitate infiltration, logistics and attacks targeting Pakistani territory.
According to officials familiar with the operation, Pakistan’s security forces have intensified monitoring and defensive measures along sensitive sections of the border in recent weeks. The actions are part of a broader strategy to prevent militant groups from exploiting border regions as staging grounds for attacks.
Pakistan has repeatedly raised concerns about the presence of militant networks operating from Afghan territory and has urged the authorities in Kabul to take verifiable action against such groups.
Security analysts note that cross-border militancy remains one of the most persistent challenges to regional stability. Militant factions linked to Fitna al-Khwarij have carried out multiple attacks against security personnel and civilians inside Pakistan over the past several years.
Officials say the current security posture reflects Pakistan’s determination to prevent militant groups from regrouping or establishing operational footholds near the frontier.
Pakistan’s security forces have maintained that their operations are conducted with the objective of protecting the country’s territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of communities living in border regions.
The ongoing campaign also highlights Islamabad’s broader counterterrorism doctrine, which combines intelligence-based operations, border security measures and targeted action against militant infrastructure.
Security officials emphasize that Pakistan remains committed to regional stability but will continue to act decisively against terrorist threats originating from across the border.
Operation Ghazab Lil-Haqq, they say, represents part of Pakistan’s sustained effort to eliminate militant networks and ensure that the country’s borders are not used as launchpads for violence.
