Following reported battlefield setbacks against Pakistan Army, Afghan Taliban elements allegedly targeted civilian population areas, including mosques, in Bajaur, security sources said.
According to officials, mortar shells fired from across the border landed in Laghrai area and surrounding localities of Bajaur District.
Security sources confirmed that five people were injured in the incident, including three women. The injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Khar where medical treatment is underway.
Local residents expressed anger over cross-border shelling incidents, while security officials stated that attacks on civilian areas are widely viewed as violations of humanitarian norms.
Pakistani security forces reiterated that they maintain full operational readiness to respond to any border aggression. Authorities said any attempt to target civilian population centers will be met with a firm and effective response.
