Spike in Terror Attacks Across KP During First Week of Ramadan Claims Over 20 Security Personnel

A significant escalation in terrorist activity has been reported across multiple districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the first week of Ramadan, resulting in the deaths of more than 20 security personnel and injuring several others. The attacks have targeted police, Frontier Corps (FC), and other security forces, highlighting a coordinated attempt by militants to destabilize the region during the holy month.

In southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, continuous assaults have led to the deaths of 13 police officers and injuries to 10 others. In Kohat, a violent incident claimed the lives of seven police personnel, while four others sustained injuries. In the Bhakar area adjoining Dera Ismail Khan, a suicide attacker detonated at a police checkpoint, killing four officers and wounding four more.

Meanwhile, in Bannu, a suicide attack on a security convoy resulted in the deaths of four army personnel, including a Lieutenant Colonel. Another attack on the FC lines in the district left eight personnel injured. In Karak, militants targeted an ambulance, killing three FC personnel, and later launched an attack on the FC fortress in the same area, injuring five officers.

Additional incidents were reported from Dera Ismail Khan, where one police officer was killed and two others injured, and from South Waziristan’s Wana region, where one police officer was martyred.

Authorities have intensified counterterrorism operations in response to this surge in violence. In a significant development, law enforcement successfully apprehended a female suicide attacker in Dera Ismail Khan, preventing a potential attack. Operations against militant elements are ongoing, and security forces continue to coordinate across districts to prevent further attacks and safeguard the public.
