Khawarij Clashes in Kurram Spill Over into Orakzai, Four Civilians Killed

Clashes between Khawarij factions in central Kurram have intensified over the past two days and spread into Orakzai, leaving civilians dead and many others injured, according to local sources. The fighting reportedly erupted over disputes related to extortion payments, and heavy exchanges of gunfire and artillery continue unabated.

During the escalation, several mortar shells fired by the Khawarij struck civilian areas in Orakzai, resulting in the deaths of four civilians and injuries to multiple others. Residents described chaotic scenes as families scrambled for safety while the violence unfolded.

The conflict pits the Kazim group from central Kurram against a faction of Khawarij from Khyber and Tirah. Both sides are reported to be using heavy weaponry, including mortars and automatic firearms, significantly endangering local populations.

In a disturbing development, some miscreants attempted to target a military post in Orakzai, citing the civilian casualties as justification. Security personnel displayed remarkable restraint and did not retaliate, ensuring that no further harm came to innocent bystanders.

Local residents report that the Khawarij infighting has severely disrupted daily life across Kurram, Orakzai, and surrounding mountainous areas. Markets, schools, and public spaces remain largely deserted as civilians stay indoors to avoid being caught in the crossfire.

Despite the ongoing violence, the local population expressed confidence in the state’s security forces, calling for sustained operations against these armed elements. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant, avoid conflict zones, and cooperate with security personnel to ensure their safety.

Military and law enforcement agencies continue coordinated operations to contain the fighting and protect civilian lives. Officials stressed that efforts are underway to prevent further escalation and to restore stability in the affected regions.
