A series of coordinated drone-based attacks targeted security installations and adjacent areas in District Tank, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, posing a serious threat to public safety and regional stability. According to police and security sources, militants deployed quadcopter drones to strike the Kot Azam security post in the Gomal area of Tank district. The attack resulted in injuries to three security personnel, who were immediately evacuated and shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.
In a separate incident, the Seer Kamar security post also came under drone attack, leaving one soldier injured. The strike was followed by a heavy exchange of gunfire as security forces launched a swift and measured retaliatory operation to neutralize the threat and secure the area.
Authorities further reported that surveillance drones were observed hovering over the residence of the District Officer of the Federal Constabulary (DOFC) in Tank City, indicating a broader pattern of hostile reconnaissance and coordinated targeting.
Security forces promptly cordoned off affected areas and initiated search and clearance operations to identify and apprehend those responsible. Investigations are underway to determine the origin, operational methods, and network affiliations of the attackers.
These incidents reflect a concerning escalation in the use of commercially available drone technology by militant elements to target both security infrastructure and civilian-adjacent areas. Law enforcement and security agencies remain on high alert and are reinforcing defensive protocols to counter evolving aerial threats.
The Government of Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering commitment to safeguarding its personnel and citizens. All necessary measures are being undertaken to strengthen counterterrorism operations and prevent further acts of aggression. The public is urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement authorities by reporting any suspicious activity.
