Video footage has surfaced showing Shahab Lewal, an Afghan official attending a high-level meeting of Afghanistan’s current regime, openly praising Noor Wali Mehsud, the leader of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Such public endorsements of a known terrorist figure by individuals within the Afghan political setup raise critical questions about Afghanistan’s commitment to countering TTP operations on its soil.
Pakistan has consistently emphasized that expecting decisive action against the TTP while such glorifications continue is unrealistic. Any political or ideological space provided to anti-Pakistan militants within Afghan ranks risks further emboldening terrorist networks and isolating Afghanistan in the international community.
The people of Pakistan, alongside its military leadership, remain united in their stance against terrorism and all groups that threaten the country’s security. Cross-border militancy will not be tolerated, and Pakistan reserves the right to respond firmly to safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security interests.
Authorities stress the urgent need for Afghanistan to take credible and verifiable action against all terrorist groups operating from its territory. Public glorification of terrorist leaders undermines regional stability and international efforts to combat militancy.
Pakistan continues to pursue coordinated counterterrorism strategies while engaging with neighboring countries and international partners to ensure long-term security and peace in the region.
