An imam of a local mosque, militants abducted three days ago, was found murdered in the Ghiljo area of Upper Orakzai, police and local sources confirmed on Wednesday.
According to details, Ajmal, the imam of Jamia Mosque located in DDM Darradar (Mamozai) within the jurisdiction of Ghiljo Police Station, had been kidnapped by unidentified armed men earlier this week. His body was recovered from the same area on Wednesday.
Sources said the victim had been slaughtered to death.
Police and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the site after the recovery of the body and began collecting forensic evidence.
Police sources further stated that initial suspicions point towards the possible involvement of elements linked to ISKP or Daesh Khorasan, though a final determination will be made only after the completion of the investigation.
