Pakistan’s security forces have killed three militants during an intelligence-based operation in Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a region located along the country’s border with Afghanistan.
Security sources said the operation was launched after reports emerged of suspicious movement by armed men in an outlying area of Bara tehsil. Acting promptly, security personnel cordoned off the area and engaged the militants, resulting in the elimination of three terrorists. Two others were reported injured during the encounter.
During a follow-up search operation, militants opened fire on security forces, triggering an exchange of gunfire. In the crossfire, one security official sustained a bullet wound to the foot.
Security forces have launched a comprehensive clearance operation in the area to flush out any remaining militants and prevent their escape.
The operation comes a day after security forces neutralized 22 militants in separate actions across multiple districts of the province, underscoring the ongoing nationwide counterterrorism campaign.
Both the political and military leadership of Pakistan have reiterated their complete unity and determination to continue the fight against terrorism, vowing not to rest until the last terrorist is brought to justice.
