Government Girls School in Punjab’s DG Khan District Hit by Explosion

According to initial reports, the explosion caused damage to the school building; however, no casualties or injuries were reported. At the time of the attack, the school was not in session, a factor that prevented loss of life.

Security and law enforcement agencies swiftly reached the site following the blast, cordoned off the area, and launched a comprehensive investigation. Bomb disposal and forensic teams are examining the scene to determine the nature of the explosives used and to gather evidence that may lead to the identification of the perpetrators.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Officials have strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a deliberate attempt to instill fear and disrupt access to education, particularly for girls. “Attacks on educational institutions, especially those serving young girls, are an attack on our future and will not be tolerated,” a senior local official stated.

Authorities have assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to enhance security around educational institutions in the district and surrounding areas. Additional patrols and surveillance have been ordered as a precautionary step, while intelligence-based operations are underway to trace those involved.

The provincial administration has reiterated its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted education and safeguarding students and teachers. Plans for the repair and restoration of the damaged school building will be initiated promptly to minimize disruption to academic activities.

This incident comes amid ongoing efforts by the state to counter militancy and extremist violence. Officials emphasized that such acts will not weaken the resolve of the government or the local population to promote education, peace, and stability in the region.
