Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has reiterated the state of Pakistan’s firm and unambiguous commitment to eliminating terrorism, stating that decisive and sustained measures are being taken to ensure lasting peace and security across the country.
Addressing the media, the DG ISPR emphasized that the state’s stance on terrorism is clear, consistent, and unwavering. “The state is fully committed to counterterrorism,” he said, adding that significant and effective steps have been taken to combat terrorist threats. He noted that Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts have not only yielded tangible results domestically but have also been acknowledged and appreciated by the international community.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry underscored that extremist and violent elements falsely invoking religion have no association with Islam. “Khawarij and other terrorist groups have no link with Islam or its teachings,” he stated, reaffirming that terrorism stands in direct contradiction to religious, moral, and societal values.
Providing operational details, the DG ISPR revealed that a total of 5,397 counterterrorism operations have been conducted across the country so far this year. These operations, carried out by Pakistan’s security forces in coordination with law enforcement agencies and intelligence institutions, reflect the state’s proactive and intelligence-driven approach to dismantling terrorist networks.
Highlighting a critical security challenge, he pointed out that approximately 80 percent of terrorist incidents are occurring in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, describing it as a key concern requiring focused attention, sustained operations, and continued national unity. He stressed that this trend underscores the complexity of the threat environment and the need for a comprehensive, whole-of-state response.
“The fight against terrorism is a national responsibility,” the DG ISPR concluded. “The state, its institutions, and the people of Pakistan remain united in their resolve to eradicate terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”
The press briefing reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to continue robust counterterrorism operations, strengthen internal security, and safeguard the country’s stability and future.
