A Frontier Reserve Police officer, Havaldar Abdul Halim, was reportedly abducted while on way home in Tank district, police sources said. The incident took place near a middle school in the village of Sheikh Sultan, where unknown assailants allegedly carried out the kidnapping.
Police and other law enforcement agencies have launched a search operation to locate the officer and ensure his safe recovery, sources added.
In a separate but related incident in Lakki Marwat, gunmen fired on a vehicle near Sher Kali, killing Shahab, the son of a police sub-inspector, and seriously wounding his brother, Rehmatullah, a patwari stationed in Sarai Noorang. Both the injured and the deceased have been transferred to a local hospital, authorities said.
Earlier today, security forces had killed two militants, including a highly wanted commander, and arrested two others during a separate operation in Tank.
