Security forces successfully thwarted an attempted infiltration along the Pak-Afghan border in Kurram district, killing more than 25 militants during a timely and vigilant response, sources said on Tuesday.
According to security sources, between 40 and 45 militants attempted to cross into Pakistani territory from Afghanistan near the Torghar Post. Troops stationed in the area detected the movement in time and immediately engaged the group, preventing the breach.
As a result of the operation, over 25 militants were killed, while 20 to 25 others sustained injuries. The dead bodies were taken into custody by security forces, while the injured militants were forced to retreat back across the border.
Sources said the prompt action and heightened alertness of security personnel effectively neutralized a major threat, averting potential attacks in the region. A clearance operation remains underway to ensure the area is fully secured and no residual threat remains.
Security forces have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining strict vigilance along the border and responding decisively to any attempt at infiltration.
