In a timely and highly effective operation, Bannu Police successfully thwarted a major terrorist plot by safely defusing a powerful improvised explosive device (IED), preventing potential large-scale loss of life and damage to public infrastructure.
According to police officials, the IED was discovered within the jurisdiction of Basiya Khel Police Station near the Darra Shah Khel road, a busy public thoroughfare. The explosive device had reportedly been planted with the intention of causing widespread destruction and targeting civilians.
Upon receiving intelligence that terrorists had installed a dangerous locally manufactured bomb on the public road, Bannu Police acted swiftly. The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was immediately dispatched to the site, where personnel demonstrated exceptional professionalism and technical expertise.
The Bomb Disposal Squad successfully neutralized the device without any casualties or damage. Preliminary technical assessment revealed that the IED contained approximately 10 to 12 kilograms of high-grade explosive material, along with a detonator, remote-control unit, and battery.
