In a significant move to strengthen law enforcement capabilities, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police has approved the purchase of advanced weaponry, surveillance equipment, and protective gear, signaling a major upgrade in the province’s security infrastructure.
According to official documents obtained by local media, the procurement plan includes a wide range of modern firearms and tactical equipment aimed at enhancing the police force’s operational efficiency, counterterrorism preparedness, and public safety.
The police will acquire 50 Beretta sniper rifles and 100 additional sniper rifles to bolster precision engagement capabilities. Alongside these, 1,250 modern automatic TWS rifles will be introduced, providing frontline units with enhanced firepower for counterterrorism and high-risk operations.
To improve monitoring and reconnaissance, KP Police will procure 73 surveillance drones and 330 thermal TI cameras, significantly enhancing their ability to detect threats in urban and remote areas. In addition, 14 anti-drone guns will be purchased to counter potential aerial threats, while 4 specialized searching drones will support ground operations in high-risk zones.
The move reflects a growing recognition of the importance of technological superiority in modern policing, particularly in regions historically affected by militancy and organized crime.
Frontline personnel will also receive upgraded protection with 6,000 bulletproof jackets and 6,000 bulletproof helmets, alongside 20 advanced bomb disposal suits for counterterrorism operations. 1,000 Sparta cameras will be deployed for search operations, improving situational awareness and evidence documentation during missions.
To ensure safe mobility in hostile environments, KP Police plans to reinforce 39 police vehicles with front-screen armor and 5 double-cabin vehicles with bulletproofing. Additionally, the fleet will expand to include 210 B7-level armored vehicles and 1,200 operational armored vehicles, along with comprehensive side-armoring and body fabrication for existing vehicles.
The upgraded fleet and equipment are designed to support the police in both urban and rural operations, from counterterrorism missions to high-risk criminal apprehensions, while minimizing risks to officers.
Security analysts say these acquisitions represent a major step forward in modernizing law enforcement in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a province that has historically faced insurgency, terrorism, and cross-border security challenges. By integrating advanced weaponry, tactical protective gear, and cutting-edge surveillance technology, the police force aims to enhance both offensive and defensive capabilities.
