A police constable was martyred and five others sustained injuries in a suicide attack targeting a police mobile near Tajori in Lakki Marwat on Monday, officials confirmed. The attack occurred in the Katto Khel Adda area, where the suicide bomber detonated himself as the police vehicle passed through the vicinity.
Police said the force’s mobile unit, carrying seven personnel, was struck with full intensity. Head Constable Alauddin embraced martyrdom on the spot, while the explosion left the remains of the suicide bomber scattered across the crime scene.
The injured include ASI Haq Nawaz Khan (mobile in-charge); driver Yar Muhammad, Elite Force Constable Kamal Ahmed, Naeemullah, and DFC Nasrullah. All wounded personnel were swiftly shifted to nearby medical facilities, where they received necessary treatment.
According to police, an accomplice of the suicide attacker managed to flee the scene. Residents, along with law enforcement agencies, have launched a pursuit in the nearby forested areas to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi strongly condemned the “terrorist attack on the police mobile,” praising the bravery and sacrifice of the fallen officer. “Our police personnel have once again proven their unwavering dedication by laying down their lives for the security of our people,” he said.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the provincial government’s full support for the police force, stating that their sacrifices “will never be forgotten or go in vain.” He added that maintaining law and order remains the government’s highest priority and that such “cowardly acts of terrorism cannot weaken our resolve.”
Security has been intensified across the district as investigations continue. Authorities have launched a coordinated search operation to track down the attacker’s facilitators and dismantle the network behind the assault.
