A fierce power struggle between the factions of Mullah Yaqoob and Sirajuddin Haqqani has turned Afghanistan into a battlefield, leaving more than 40 Taliban fighters dead in less than 48 hours, according to sources.
The internal clashes have further exposed the hypocrisy, greed, and lust for power within the Taliban regime. Reports indicate that Mullah Yaqoob’s group killed 18 fighters belonging to the Haqqani faction. In retaliation, Haqqani’s fighters targeted commanders of the Kandahari group, killing them in exchange.
Sources say that the Taliban regime, rather than functioning as a unified government, now resembles a crumbling militia, with rival factions carving out territories and settling scores among themselves.
Social media activist Wkeel Ahmed Mubarez confirmed the armed clashes between the two factions. Instead of focusing on governance or improving administrative mechanisms, the so-called jihadist organisation is currently preoccupied with internal bloodletting
