Law enforcement agencies have achieved a significant breakthrough in the investigation of the Islamabad Judicial Complex attack in G-11, with the arrest of a key facilitator involved in the attack, officials confirmed.
The arrests were made during a joint operation by the Intelligence Bureau and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). Four members of the TTP/Fitna al-Khawarij terrorist cell involved in the attack have been apprehended. Investigations revealed that TTP/Fitna al-Khawarij commander Saeed-ur-Rehman, alias “Dadullah,” operating from Afghanistan, directed the suicide attack through the Telegram app. His instructions were executed by the suicide bomber’s handler, Sajid-ur-Rahman, alias “Sheena,” who has confessed to his role during interrogation.
Saeed-ur-Rehman, also known as Dad Akbar, hails from Char Makking, Bajaur, and serves as the TTP’s intelligence chief based in Nawagai, Bajaur, while currently residing in Afghanistan. The attack was planned to inflict maximum casualties.
According to officials, Dadullah sent images of the suicide bomber, Usman, alias “Qari,” to Sajid-ur-Rahman, who coordinated his arrival in Pakistan. Usman, a resident of Achin, Nangarhar, Afghanistan, and a member of the Shinwari tribe, was lodged in a suburb of Islamabad under Sajid-ur-Rahman’s supervision.
Following Dadullah’s instructions from Afghanistan, Sajid-ur-Rahman obtained the explosive-laden suicide jacket from Akhun Baba Cemetery in Peshawar and transported it to Islamabad. On the day of the attack, Sajid-ur-Rahman fitted the jacket on the suicide bomber, Usman.
The entire terrorist cell involved in this plot has now been apprehended, including the operational commander and his three associates. The TTP/Fitna al-Khawarij’s senior leadership in Afghanistan was actively guiding the network at every step. Investigations are ongoing, and further arrests and revelations are expected.
