Pakistan Accelerates Repatriation of Afghan Refugees, Over 1.6 Million Return Home

Pakistan has continued the orderly repatriation of Afghan refugees, with approximately 11,600 individuals returning to Afghanistan yesterday alone. Since the launch of the current phase of repatriation, a total of 1,609,600 Afghan nationals have safely returned to their homeland.

Pakistani authorities stressed that the repatriation process is being conducted in full compliance with legal procedures. Every refugee undergoes rigorous documentation and verification before being allowed to cross the border, ensuring a secure and transparent process. Officials highlighted that the initiative is aligned with Pakistan’s national security priorities while maintaining a commitment to humanitarian principles.

For more than four decades, Pakistan has provided refuge to millions of Afghan nationals affected by conflict and instability in Afghanistan. During this period, Pakistan not only offered shelter but also facilitated food, medical care, and essential services, setting a globally recognized example of humanitarian assistance and solidarity.

The government has assured that both the Federal and Civil administrations, including the Frontier Corps, are coordinating closely to guarantee that Afghan refugees return home safely and with dignity. Pakistani authorities reiterated that, going forward, entry into the country without a valid passport and visa will no longer be permitted, underlining a structured approach to migration and border security.

Officials described the repatriation initiative as a landmark effort reflecting Pakistan’s continued commitment to regional stability and humanitarian responsibility. They emphasized that the process ensures that refugees are not only repatriated but also treated with respect and fairness, reinforcing Pakistan’s role as a responsible host nation.
