Sindh Rangers and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested a most-wanted militant belonging to the banned outfit Fitna al-Khawarij during a joint intelligence-based operation in the Shershah area. According to a Rangers spokesperson, the arrested suspect, identified as Muhammad Noor alias Khum, son of Wali Khan, was apprehended during a targeted raid. Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were also recovered from his possession.
During interrogation, Noor confessed to his involvement in a series of heinous crimes, including target killings, extortion, bomb attacks, kidnappings for ransom, and multiple armed encounters with police. He reportedly carried out these activities along with his associates Abid Mucchar, Umar Khattab Mehsud, Qayoom Mehsud, Azam Khan, Khan Zaman, Zawil Mehsud, Syed Badshah alias Adrak, Abdul Rehman, Abdul Hakeem, Siddiqullah, Khazan Gul, and Abid Chhota.
The spokesperson further revealed that the militant had joined Mehsud’s faction of Fitna al-Khawarij in 2010 and became part of Mucchar’s target-killing team in 2012. Most of his accomplices were either killed or arrested during the Karachi operation jointly conducted by Rangers and police. In 2015, Noor reportedly went into hiding in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to evade arrest.
He was wanted in several cases registered at the Manghopir and Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police stations. The apprehended militant, along with the recovered arms and explosives, has been handed over to police for further legal proceedings.
Sindh Rangers urged citizens to report any information regarding criminal or militant activities to the nearest Rangers check post, via the Rangers Helpline 1101, or through WhatsApp, assuring that the informant’s identity would be kept confidential.
