A suicide bombing struck near the District Court in Islamabad today, leaving five people dead and more than 13 injured, according to security sources. Preliminary reports indicate the attack occurred near a police vehicle, with the assailant detonating explosives while riding a motorcycle.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing two powerful explosions, which ignited fires in the motorcycle and a nearby car. A vest suspected to have been worn by the suicide bomber was recovered at the scene.
Security personnel, including the Deputy Inspector General of Islamabad, district administration officials, and forensic teams, are present at the site conducting a thorough investigation. Due to security concerns, lawyers, judges, and civilians were evacuated to the rear section of the judicial complex, with judges relocated to a secure location.
Authorities have indicated that preliminary intelligence points to the involvement of India-backed terrorists in orchestrating the attack. The incident underscores ongoing threats to public safety and the importance of vigilance in the capital.
