Security forces killed three terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy group Fitna al-Khawarij in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Monday.
According to the ISPR, the first encounter took place near the general area of Esham in North Waziristan District, where the movement of a group of Khawarij attempting to infiltrate Pakistan from across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border was detected by security forces.
“Own troops effectively engaged this group of Khawarij, and as a result of precise and skillful firing, two terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy Fitna al-Khawarij were sent to hell,” the ISPR said. One of the slain terrorists was identified as Qasim, an Afghan national who had previously served in the Afghan Border Police.
In another intelligence-based operation in the Tank District, security forces neutralised another terrorist affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij. The ISPR identified him as Ikramuddin, also known as Abu Dajana, an Afghan national.
The military’s media wing said the incidents highlight the continued involvement of Afghan nationals in terrorist activities targeting innocent civilians and security personnel inside Pakistan. “Pakistan has repeatedly called on the Interim Afghan Government to ensure effective border management on their side and to prevent the use of Afghan soil by Khawarij and the involvement of Afghan citizens in terrorism inside Pakistan,” the statement added.
The ISPR reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces remain resolute and unwavering in their commitment to defend the nation’s frontiers. “A sanitation operation is under way to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored Khawarij in the area,” it said.
The ISPR concluded that the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
