Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday chaired a series of important federal cabinet meetings that undertook an extensive review of national and international developments, regional security challenges, and ongoing reform initiatives across various sectors.
During the main cabinet session, the Prime Minister briefed members on his recent foreign visits, high-level diplomatic engagements, and the evolving regional situation. The cabinet expressed complete solidarity with the Pakistan Armed Forces and reaffirmed the nation’s firm resolve to eradicate terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
The cabinet thoroughly examined the security situation arising from cross-border threats from Afghanistan, India’s hostile actions, and the subversive activities of extremist groups. Paying glowing tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistan Armed Forces, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said their sacrifices reflected the unwavering courage and unity of the Pakistani nation.
“The defense of our people and our borders is not a matter of diplomacy but of national duty,” the Prime Minister declared, emphasizing that Pakistan would never compromise on its sovereignty or security.
In addition to the main session, the Prime Minister presided over separate meetings of the Cabinet Committee on Inter-Governmental Commercial Transactions, the Cabinet Committee on Legislative Cases, and the Cabinet Committee on Regulatory Reforms. These meetings reviewed key decisions and strategies related to trade agreements, legal reforms, and governance improvements.
The cabinet also discussed initiatives for overseas employment and the strengthening of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to enhance the country’s skilled workforce. A detailed report on power sector reforms was presented, outlining measures to improve transparency, reduce inefficiencies, and ensure sustainable energy supply nationwide.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan would continue to defend its national interests with unity, courage, and determination, standing shoulder to shoulder with its armed forces in the fight against terrorism and external aggression.
