Mysterious Drones Hover Over Kabul, Heightening Security Concerns Near Bagram

Several mysterious drones have been spotted over Kabul since early Saturday morning, primarily in the northern neighborhoods close to Bagram air base in neighboring Parwan province, local sources told Afghan media as  per reports  The operators and purpose of the flights remain unknown, and the Taliban have yet to comment on the sightings.

Residents reported similar drone activity over Bagram district late Thursday, intensifying apprehensions in the strategic region. The developments follow a nearly 48-hour nationwide internet and telecommunications blackout imposed by the Taliban earlier this week, which paralyzed banking, air travel, and humanitarian operations. The Taliban offered no explanation for the shutdown, drawing sharp criticism from the United Nations and international human rights organizations.

Bagram, formerly the largest U.S. military base in Afghanistan before the 2021 withdrawal, continues to be a highly sensitive security zone under Taliban control. Experts warn that the recent drone flights could signal surveillance operations or emerging security threats, underscoring the volatile situation in and around the region.

Local authorities and security agencies are reportedly monitoring the developments closely, though no official statement has been released.
