Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warned that external elements do not wish to see Pakistan prosper and vowed that the resurging threat of terrorism would be rooted out completely. Speaking to Pakistani journalists in the United Kingdom, the prime minister stressed that the country’s political and military leadership were on the same page over all key national issues, including foreign policy. “I consult Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on every national matter, including the economy. This harmony must continue so we can recover from the losses of the past,” he said.
Recalling Pakistan’s wars with India, Shehbaz Sharif said the armed forces had taught New Delhi a lesson it would not forget. He maintained that Pakistan secured historic victories under the leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir, with the entire nation standing firmly behind its military during times of conflict.
On foreign engagements, the premier described his recent visit to New York and Washington as highly productive. He welcomed the convening of a United Nations session on Gaza, which was also attended by Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt.
He added that the session, chaired by US President Donald Trump, had extended a special invitation to Pakistan. “The discussions on Gaza were encouraging, and I am confident the recent meeting will soon yield positive results,” Shehbaz Sharif remarked.
