In a swift and coordinated counter-terrorism operation, Bannu police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) neutralised two Khawarij in the Pirdal Khel area of Cantonment Police Station limits.
The joint action was launched following intelligence reports about terrorist activity in the area. According to initial information, the suspects were in the process of planting an improvised explosive device (IED) along a roadside when law enforcement teams moved in.
As the forces approached the location, the militants opened indiscriminate fire. The police and CTD personnel responded with courage and firepower, resulting in the killing of two terrorists. However, a few of their accomplices managed to escape into nearby residential areas and underbrush. A search operation is underway, and efforts are being made to confirm the identities of the deceased.
District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu, Saleem Abbas Kulachi, praised the swift action of his team, stating, “Bannu police is fully alert and determined to eliminate terrorists and their facilitators. No terrorist will find a hiding place in this district.”
