In a significant counter-terrorism success, security forces in Dera Ismail Khan eliminated 13 militants affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a group officially designated by the state as Fitna al-Khawarij. The operation was carried out on the basis of precise intelligence in the Daraban tehsil of the district.
According to security sources, actionable intelligence was received regarding the presence of heavily armed militants in the area who were reportedly planning a major terror strike. Acting swiftly, security forces cordoned off the suspected location. Upon realising they were surrounded, the militants opened fire, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire.
