Khawarij carried out a sabotage attack in Karak district, blowing up a major gas transmission pipeline and cutting supply to surrounding areas. Police said the perpetrators planted an improvised explosive device near Indus Highway at New Adda, which detonated with a powerful blast and ripped through the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) line. The explosion sent shockwaves across the locality, spreading fear and panic as the noise echoed through nearby settlements.
The damage to the pipeline immediately disrupted gas supply to adjoining areas, while repair crews and security teams rushed to the site to restore services and secure the area. Authorities confirmed that extensive efforts were underway to repair the line and normalise supply.
Officials condemned the attack as an act of terrorism by Khawarij elements bent on destabilising the province and targeting critical national infrastructure. “These cowardly acts will not succeed in shaking public resolve. The perpetrators will be pursued relentlessly until they are eliminated,” a senior police official remarked.
The incident underscores the continued threat posed by Khawarij in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where security forces remain engaged in operations to dismantle their networks and safeguard essential installations.
