Security forces on Monday killed two militants linked with the proscribed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Washuk district of Balochistan, officials confirmed.
According to security sources, the operation was carried out near the Basima bypass, where forces intercepted and engaged the suspects. In the ensuing exchange, both militants were neutralized. Their bodies were shifted to Basima Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
The slain men have yet to be identified as they were not carrying national identity cards. However, initial investigations suggest they had been active facilitators in several acts of terrorism in the region, including attacks targeting security convoys and roadside ambushes.
Officials said the operation is part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts aimed at dismantling networks of India-backed insurgent groups that have been responsible for violence and sabotage in Balochistan. Security forces reaffirmed their resolve to continue such actions until peace and stability are fully restored in the province.
Local residents reported heightened security in the area following the operation, with law enforcement agencies conducting search and clearance measures to prevent any retaliatory action.
