Funeral prayers of Major Adnan Aslam Shaheed, aged 31 and a resident of Rawalpindi, were offered on Tuesday at Chaklala, Rawalpindi. The officer embraced martyrdom while under treatment at Combined Military Hospital following injuries sustained during a cowardly terrorist attack in Bannu on September 2, 2025.
The solemn prayers were attended by Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Defence Minister, Information Minister, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir NI (M), HJ, senior serving military and civil officers, as well as relatives of the martyred officer.
Major Adnan, remembered for his unflinching bravery, led his men from the front against militants described as Indian-backed Khawarij elements. Paying tribute, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said the nation had lost “a valiant son of the soil whose courage and sacrifice will forever remain etched in the nation’s heart. He represents the best of Pakistan: unwavering resolve, love for the homeland, and an unbreakable spirit of sacrifice.”
The Pakistan Army stated that the martyrdom of Major Adnan Aslam is a testament to the armed forces’ determination to root out terrorism in all its forms. “Our brave sons continue to lay down their lives so that future generations may live in peace and security,” the statement added.
Major Adnan Aslam will be laid to rest in his hometown with full military honours. His sacrifice, alongside those of countless other martyrs, reinforces the enduring commitment of Pakistan’s armed forces to defend the country against all internal and external threats.
