Investigators have confirmed that ISIS-Khorasan Province (IS-KP) orchestrated the September 2 blast at Shahwani Stadium on Saryab Road, Quetta, during a political gathering, an attack that left 15 people dead and at least 38 wounded.

Officials and local observers noted the assault followed months of warnings on their social media accounts. Shafiq Mengal, regarded as the IS-KP operational head in Balochistan in July, had openly threatened to attack Baloch political activists and leaders, especially those linked to the Balochistan National Party (BNP), three months ago.

Just two days before the explosion, the group’s spokesman Nadeem-ur-Rehman alias Umar Farooq reiterated the threat, vowing to target BNP leadership and workers across the province.

Security forces have intensified search operations across Quetta and surrounding districts, warning that ISIS-K sleeper cells remain active. Officials said additional security measures are being placed around political rallies and public venues as investigators trace the network behind the attack.
