The banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has once again threatened to launch a fresh wave of terrorist attacks in the province. In a recent statement, BLA chief Bashir Zeb Baloch claimed that the so-called “Operation Herof – Phase Two” would be launched soon, boasting that it would “change history” and alleging that Pakistan would not be able to withstand it.
Security officials, however, have condemned the announcement, terming it a continuation of BLA’s campaign of violence that has already resulted in the killing of innocent civilians and security personnel. They said the group’s attempts to destabilize Balochistan through fear and bloodshed have failed in the past and will once again be defeated.
Authorities maintain that the BLA, backed by external elements, has been targeting infrastructure, security posts, and soft targets in a bid to spread terror, but law enforcement agencies are fully prepared to counter any such attacks.
