A wave of coordinated attacks by Khawarij struck Bannu late Monday night, leaving a police constable martyred, two young men abducted, and a Frontier Corps (FC) check-post under fire, officials confirmed on Tuesday. According to police, the assailants stormed the residence of Constable Rafidullah and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) official Javed in the jurisdiction of Hovid Police Station. The attackers forcibly took Constable Rafidullah and Javed’s sons, Fahad and Junaid, into captivity. Rafidullah was later martyred at the hands of the Khawarij, while his nephews remain hostages.
In a separate incident the same night, the Khawarij opened fire on an FC check-post near the airport along Miranshah Road. FC personnel responded with timely and effective retaliation, forcing the attackers to withdraw without causing casualties.
Following the attacks, security forces cordoned off the affected areas and launched a large-scale search operation to trace the perpetrators and secure the release of the abducted youths.
The latest assault underscores the persistent threat posed by the Khawarij along the frontier belt, where security personnel and civilians alike continue to bear the brunt of their violent campaign. Officials said operations will continue until the culprits are neutralised and the hostages safely recovered.
