Khawarij launched an armed assault on a Frontier Constabulary (FC) fort in Hangu district, martyring two personnel and injuring 17 others, before fleeing in the face of strong retaliation by the security forces. According to officials, the attack occurred within the jurisdiction of Doaba Police Station at Tora Warai, where the assailants targeted the FC fort with heavy gunfire. FC and police personnel stationed at the fort immediately returned fire, engaging the attackers in a fierce exchange that continued for some time.
Police said the terrorists eventually fled the scene after encountering strong resistance. In the exchange, two FC personnel embraced martyrdom, while 17 sustained injuries. Rescue teams shifted the wounded to hospital, where they were reported to be under treatment.
A police spokesperson confirmed that security forces had launched a comprehensive search and clearance operation in the area to trace the attackers and prevent their regrouping. Additional contingents were dispatched to reinforce security around the fort and surrounding localities.
Officials paid tribute to the courage of the FC and police personnel, saying their swift and determined response had thwarted the attackers’ attempt to inflict greater damage. They reiterated that the sacrifices of the fallen personnel underscored the continued resolve of the security forces to defeat terrorism.
