Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, paid an official visit to Uzbekistan where he met the country’s top political and military leadership to discuss defence cooperation, regional security, and avenues for enhanced bilateral partnership, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
During the visit, General Mirza called on Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Defence Minister Major General Shukrat Khollmukhamedov, and Secretary of the National Security Council Lieutenant General Viktor Makhmudov. The meetings covered a wide spectrum of issues, including defence and security collaboration, regional stability, and global strategic challenges.
Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to further deepen military-to-military engagement and expand cooperation in defence, counterterrorism, and security-related fields. They also discussed strengthening connectivity through road and rail networks to bolster regional integration and economic linkages.
The CJCSC underscored the enduring brotherly relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, stressing the importance of working together to promote peace, stability, and prosperity across the region. He highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to fostering defence production cooperation and advancing collective security initiatives with Central Asian partners.
The Uzbek leadership lauded the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism. They reiterated Uzbekistan’s desire to broaden its defence and strategic ties with Pakistan.
ISPR noted that the CJCSC’s visit reflects Pakistan’s continued focus on strengthening its defence and security partnerships with Central Asian states, aimed at consolidating regional peace and enhancing cooperation in multiple sectors of mutual interest.
