Two Khawarij hideouts were destroyed in a search operation after an attempted attack on the Fatah Khel police checkpost in the jurisdiction of Mandan Police Station late last night.
According to police, suspected militants tried to storm the Fatah Khel checkpoint, but the attempt was foiled. Following credible intelligence, law enforcement was informed that the attackers had taken shelter in two houses in the Patona Mamand Khel area under Cantt Police Station limits.
District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu, Saleem Abbas Kalachi, led a rapid response operation involving Quick Response Force (QRF), Rapid Reaction Force (RRF), and other police units. The area was swiftly cordoned off and a search operation was launched.
The militants had rigged their hideouts with IEDs, which detonated during the operation, completely destroying both structures. Fortunately, no police personnel were harmed. The militants, however, managed to escape by blending in with the local population.
A comprehensive search operation remains ongoing in the area to track down the fleeing suspects.
