The terrorists of the Fitna al-Khawarij carried out two separate attacks; one involving the targeted killing of an elite force police constable in North Waziristan, and the other, the abduction of a civilian along with several others in Lakki Marwat.
According to security officials, Constable Muhammad Shoaib, serving in the Elite Force, embraced martyrdom when unknown assailants opened fire on him in Mir Ali, North Waziristan. The attack occurred during daylight hours, sending shock-waves through the local population.
Shoaib, a resident of Girdai Dosali, was on duty when he came under attack. Despite swift action by security forces, the assailants managed to flee the scene. His body was later moved to a nearby medical facility for autopsy, where it was handed over to the family after official formalities.
Law enforcement agencies have launched a search operation in the area, but no arrests have been reported so far. Investigators suspect the involvement of local militant cells that have been increasingly active in recent months.
In a separate and equally alarming incident in Lakki Marwat, Khawarij abducted a civilian, his son, and his companions at gunpoint. The incident occurred in Jabokhel village of Ghazni Khel tehsil, where Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Dr. Saleem Muhammad Khan, was reportedly taken by armed men along with his son and 5 to 6 companions.
Sources within the area told this correspondent that the abductors intercepted the group while they were traveling and forced them into vehicles at gunpoint. The motive behind the abduction remains unclear, though officials suspect it may be linked to local militant networks operating in the region.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and initiated a search-and-rescue operation, though no breakthroughs have been reported by press time.
The martyrdom of Constable Shoaib and the abduction of Mushtaq Ahmed and others serve as painful reminders of the persistent threat posed by militancy in the region. Locals are once again gripped by fear, while security agencies face mounting pressure to contain the growing wave of violence and restore a sense of safety in the tribal districts.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
