Grand Jirga in Bajaur Vows No Shelter for Khawarij

The Salarzai tribe’s Laramdak clan in Bajaur district has pledged not to provide shelter to the Khawarij, as security forces continue efforts to eliminate the group from the region, official sources said on Tuesday. According to officials, intelligence reports have confirmed the presence of Khawarij in Mamond and Loi Mamond tehsils. In response, intelligence-based actions are being carried out in coordination with the provincial and local administrations to ensure civilian safety and convenience.

The grand jirga of the Laramdak clan declared that no one would be allowed to disturb peace or spread terrorism in Salarzai. Tribal elders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the state’s stance against the Khawarij.

Security sources said community elders and local residents are standing firmly with the state in its campaign against the group. Nationwide, security forces conduct more than 200 intelligence-based actions daily to disrupt the networks of the Khawarij and their facilitators.

The district administration reported that in recent days, a significant number of residents have relocated from Loi Mamond due to the prevailing security situation. To accommodate the displaced, 107 government schools and colleges have been vacated, while a camp with 450 tents has been established at Bajaur Sports Complex. Security officials reiterated that the armed forces will remain in the field until the last Khawarij is eliminated from the country.
