In a major counter-terrorism operation in the Goran area of Panjgur, security forces delivered the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) or Fitna al-Hindustan, as declared by the state, its most devastating defeat to date, killing 22 militants including one of its most wanted commanders.
According to reliable security sources, the joint operation by Frontier Corps and Special Services Group (SSG) was launched on credible intelligence that BLA operatives were preparing a large-scale attack on a Frontier Corps camp near the CPEC route. What followed was a fierce two-hour gun battle supported by aerial cover from Cobra helicopters and coordinated ground assault from three directions.
Among the dead was the notorious commander Amir alias “Baba,” long considered the mastermind behind several high-profile attacks, including the 2018 assault on the Chinese Consulate and the 2024 Gwadar suicide bombing. Amir, a resident of Khushab, joined the BLA in 2014 and quickly rose through the ranks to become a top field commander for the group’s Majid Brigade.
The operation, launched in the early hours of the morning, began as terrorists attempted to breach the FC camp. Security forces swiftly surrounded the area, leading to intense close-quarter combat. Eleven militants were killed on the spot, while subsequent clearing operations uncovered more bodies, raising the death toll to 22.
Recovered from the scene were a significant cache of weapons including dozens of AK-47s, G3 rifles, RPGs, thermal scanners, night vision devices, and a large quantity of ammunition. Notably, a hidden underground communication bunker yielded Indian-manufactured high-frequency sets and encrypted satellite phones.
Two soldiers were martyred in the operation, while several others sustained minor injuries and were shifted to CMH Khuzdar. Their condition is reported to be stable.
Defense analysts believe the operation not only secured the Iran-bordering Panjgur corridor but also dealt a critical blow to the BLA’s cross-border supply lines and command structure. The death of Amir is expected to significantly disrupt the group’s recruitment, propaganda efforts, and operational planning.
With this successful strike, Pakistan’s security forces have once again demonstrated their strategic capability, coordination, and commitment to uprooting terrorism from the region. The nation honors its fallen heroes and renews its pledge to cleanse the country, including Balochistan, from the scourge of militancy.
