Pakistan marked the 77th martyrdom anniversary of Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) today with national reverence and solemn tributes.
Across the country, ceremonies were held to honor the legacy of Pakistan’s first recipient of the Nishan-e-Haider—the highest military gallantry award. In mosques, Quran recitations and special prayers were offered, while religious scholars prayed for the elevation of his rank in the hereafter.
At his shrine in Gujar Khan, a floral wreath-laying ceremony was conducted. Major General Akif Iqbal placed flowers on the grave and offered Fateha on behalf of the armed forces.
According to the ISPR, Captain Sarwar embraced martyrdom on 27 July 1948 in the Tilpatra sector during the First Kashmir War. His fearless leadership and ultimate sacrifice in the defense of the motherland made him immortal in the nation’s memory.
