Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police decisively repelled two back-to-back attacks by Khawarij on the Sheikh Landak and Mazanga checkposts in Bannu late Monday night, displaying unmatched courage, operational excellence, and rapid response capabilities. The coordinated assault was foiled without any loss of life or damage to police installations.
According to official reports, the Khawarij first targeted Sheikh Landak Checkpost using drone technology and shortly after launched a direct assault on Mazanga Checkpost with sophisticated light and heavy weapons. The attackers attempted to disable thermal surveillance systems but were met with immediate and calculated retaliation by police personnel, who responded with overwhelming force and tactical precision.
Both attacks were neutralized within minutes, forcing the Khawarij to retreat in disarray. Thanks to the professionalism and preparedness of the officers, all personnel and infrastructure remained completely unharmed.
Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, and Regional Police Officer Bannu, Sajjad Khan, praised the bravery and readiness of the police force. They announced commendations and cash rewards for the officers who played a pivotal role in the successful defense.
“These cowardly attacks by the Khawarij are nothing but failed attempts to destabilize the region,” said IGP Hameed. “The KP Police is ever vigilant and battle-ready. Every such provocation will be met with iron resolve and immediate retaliation.”
He reaffirmed that the KP Police stands at the frontline in the war against the Khawarij and remains unwavering in its duty to protect the people and preserve peace.
Following the failed attacks, a full-scale search and clearance operation has been launched across the surrounding areas to track down and bring the fleeing Khawarij to justice.
