CTD Eliminates Two Khawarij in Bannu Intelligence-Based Operation

In a decisive counterterrorism operation, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) eliminated two hardcore Khawarij in Bannu, who were wanted in multiple cases of terrorism and targeted violence, officials confirmed. According to a CTD spokesperson, the operation was launched on the basis of credible intelligence regarding the presence of armed Khawarij operatives in the area. As the CTD team closed in, the suspects opened fire, triggering an intense exchange. Both Khawarij were neutralized on the spot.

The slain individuals were long wanted by law enforcement in connection with several heinous acts, including attacks on security forces and civilians. The spokesperson stated that the elimination of these individuals marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing campaign against violent extremism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During the post-operation clearance, CTD personnel recovered automatic weapons, a cache of explosives, and hand grenades from the possession of the dead Khawarij.

“These Khawarij posed a serious threat to public safety and were actively plotting acts of terror. Their elimination is a major success for the forces fighting to rid the region of such elements,” the CTD spokesperson said.

Security forces have cordoned off the area to secure additional evidence and pursue any potential facilitators linked to the network. The CTD reiterated its resolve to continue targeting all factions of the Khawarij until complete peace is restored.
