In a significant counter-terrorism move, Omarzai Police conducted an intelligence-based operation targeting facilitators linked to terrorist elements in the region. The operation led to the arrest of one suspected terror facilitator and the seizure of dangerous military-grade weaponry.
According to police officials, two hand grenades and three RPG-2 rounds were recovered during the raid, potentially averting a major future security threat.
The arrested individual has been identified as Qurban Ali alias Abu Bakar alias Qari, son of Mursaleen. Originally a resident of Mohmand Agency, the suspect had recently been living in Shawadag Bangla, within the jurisdiction of Mandani Police Station.
Investigators believe Qurban Ali was actively involved in providing logistical and operational support to terrorist outfits operating in and around the Charsadda region.
The recovered explosives, particularly the RPG-2 rounds, indicate a well-equipped terror cell may have been planning future attacks, possibly targeting law enforcement or civilian infrastructure. Security sources suggest the materials could have been used in hit-and-run attacks or ambushes on security convoys.
Police have filed a formal case against the suspect and have begun further interrogation to uncover the full extent of his network and affiliations.
This arrest is being seen as part of an expanding crackdown on terror facilitators in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where law enforcement agencies have stepped up their operations in the wake of recent terrorist threats in the province.
Security forces emphasise that such proactive measures are critical to disrupting sleeper cells and preempting attacks that may endanger lives and destabilise the region. The investigation remains ongoing, and officials expect further arrests and recoveries in the days to come as intelligence leads develop.
