In a troubling development from southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, three government officials, including the District Accounts Officer (DAO) of Tank, have been abducted by unidentified terrorists while travelling from Dera Ismail Khan to Tank. The abduction occurred near Hathala on the Tank Road, according to local sources.

Among those abducted is Naveed Zafar Khan, the District Accounts Officer (DAO) of Tank. He was accompanied by Acting District Health Officer (DHO) of Tank, Imran Betani, and Inayatullah Betani, an accountant from the Health Department’s Jandola sub-division.

The three officials were traveling in a government vehicle for official duty but never reached their destination. DAO Naveed Zafar Khan’s phone has remained switched off since their disappearance, raising alarms among colleagues and family members.

Security forces, including police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), have arrived at the scene and launched an investigation. A search operation is currently underway, although no group has claimed responsibility for the abduction yet.

The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of government personnel in the region, particularly those traveling through areas with known terrorist activity.
