Police Personnel Martyred in Bajaur as Khawarij Open Fire Outside Umray Police Station

A police Personnel embraced martyrdom after coming under attack by Khawarij assailants outside Umray Police Station in Mamund Tehsil of Bajaur, in what officials described as a cowardly act aimed at destabilising the region’s hard-won peace. According to official sources, the unidentified attackers opened indiscriminate fire near the police facility, critically wounding Constable Bacha, a resident of Ghakhi Loi in Mamund. The injured officer was rushed to District Headquarters Hospital in Khar for emergency medical treatment. However, due to the severity of his injuries, he was referred to a Peshawar hospital, but succumbed to his wounds while being transported.

District Police Officer Waqas Rafiq confirmed the incident and said a comprehensive investigation has been launched. “This attack bears the hallmark of Khawarij elements who seek to erode public confidence in our security apparatus. We will not rest until those responsible are apprehended and dealt with as per the law,” he stated.

Law enforcement agencies have sealed the area and commenced an extensive search operation to track down the perpetrators. Security has been heightened across the district in response to the incident.

Officials paid tribute to the martyred officer, hailing his sacrifice as a symbol of unwavering dedication to duty. “The blood of our brave personnel will not go in vain. The entire police force stands united in the face of such barbarism,” said a senior police official.

The attack underscores the persistent threat posed by Khawarij groups operating in the region and the need for continued vigilance and coordinated counterterrorism efforts.
